Stranded due to flashfloods, 66 police constables rescued in Lahaul-Spiti

As many as 29 women constables and 37 male constables of the Himachal Police travelling in two buses of 2nd IRBN and three HRTC buses were stranded following fashfloods near the Jungle Camp, around 8 km from the Tindi police post on the Sansari-Killar-Thirot-Tandi road in Lahaul and Spiti district, officials said today.

According to DSP, Keylong, Raj Kumar, the in-charge of the Tindi police post reported the matter to the Office of the SP, Keylong, yesterday. A rescue team from the Tindi police post along with Border Roads Organisation (BRO) personnel was immediately dispatched to the location.

“Upon reaching the site of the incident, it was found that the water flow was very strong and it was impossible to clear the road or resume vehicular traffic during the night. The rescue team ensured that all stranded personnel were safely evacuated in BRO vehicles,” he added.

The DSP said, “The rescued personnel were provided shelter at the forest rest house at Tindi and the BRO camp.”
