Finish road repair work before deadline, DC instructs officials
Bhiwani Deputy Commissioner Mahavir Kaushik has directed officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), Marketing Board, and Zila Parishad to complete the road repair work in the district by June 15, as per the deadline set by the state government. He said damaged roads should be identified immediately so that repair work can begin without delay.
The DC issued these directions during a video-conference with officials at the Mini-Secretariat in view of the directions from Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to all district commissioners to take urgent steps to repair roads.
The DC also directed that roads previously constructed by the Marketing Board but now merged into the Zila Parishad should be reported in detail to his office. He stressed that all development work uploaded on the ‘Har Path’ portal must be thoroughly reviewed, as the Chief Minister’s Office was directly monitoring the portal.
The Har Path portal, launched in 2017-18, includes data on all roads managed by the Marketing Board and Panchayati Raj Department. An upgraded version of the GIS-based Har Path mobile application will be launched by the Chief Minister on April 25. The public will be able to register complaints about potholes or damaged roads through this mobile application, enabling quick resolution and repairs.
Kaushik also directed the Municipal Council, Bhiwani, and the Urban Local bodies of Bawani Khera, Siwani, and Loharu in the district to ensure cleaning of all drains before the onset of the rainy season.
Notably, the Chief Minister has recently issued strict directions to all Deputy Commissioners to ensure repair of the damaged roads by treating it as the priority. The CM had also emphasised the need for social audits of the work being done. Local representatives, including councillors and chairpersons, must be involved in planning and executing road re-carpeting and repair work and new development works, the CM had told the district officers.
