Fire safety system failed
The fire brigade arrived at the spot, but could not reach inside. However, the intelligence and promptness of the employees helped control the flames from spreading.
As many as 100 patients were safely evacuated after the fire broke in the hospital. Everyone tried to rush out, someone pulled out the oxygen mask of a serious patient to rescue him. However, the patient died midway, gasping for air.
Short circuit caused fire
The fire spread from the surgical OT of the district hospital to the entire hospital. Many patients, including those with broken bones, were dragged out of the hospital premises.
Several of them pulled off their drips and ran for life. The cause of the fire is said to be a short circuit. The civil surgeon of the district hospital, Dr Gajendra Singh Tomar, says that due to a short circuit, there was sparking first and then the fire broke out.
