In NashikKathi Gali area, a major unrest erupted when the municipal corporation and police team attempted to demolish an illegal shrine, which had been declared unauthorized. The action sparked strong opposition from the local community, leading to violent protests. The mob began blocking roads and engaging in destruction, causing significant damage to several vehicles. The situation escalated late at night when stone pelting ensued. In response, the police were forced to take action, and after significant effort, they managed to bring the situation under control. In the aftermath, 31 police personnel and 25 municipal workers were injured. The protesters filed complaints under Section 300, accusing authorities of unlawfully damaging property. Meanwhile, the central government has already filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding the case, as part of a broader effort to implement a new Wakf law across the country. States like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Assam, and Chhattisgarh have shown support for the new law. In a related development, a team has been sent to investigate the reasons behind the violence, and they will submit their report in a few weeks. Meanwhile, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury visited Murshidabad to meet victims of the violence and express solidarity with those affected. However, some police officers have been accused of downplaying the severity of the incident.
