Hisar airport a milestone in state’s civil aviation sector, says MP Kiran
Rajya Sabha MP Kiran Chaudhry stated that the inauguration of the Hisar Airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi marks a significant step in the growth of the civil aviation sector in Haryana.
Addressing a press conference in Bhiwani on Tuesday, Chaudhry said the airport would connect Haryana with the rest of the country through air connectivity. She also called the Yamunanagar thermal plant project a strong step toward energy self-reliance.
Chaudhry recently participated in the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Tashkent in Uzbekistan, which includes members from 180 countries. She had presented six papers, including one on India’s nuclear weapons’ policy. The BJP MP said India would never be the first to use nuclear weapons, adhering to its ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ philosophy, promoting peace and mediation. She also represented India’s stance on women empowerment and women’s health, emphasising that India was a secular country where the rule of law prevailed. She credited PM Modi’s leadership for earning India global respect.
Chaudhry praised Modi’s recent remarks in Hisar regarding the welfare of Muslims, referring to amendments made in the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024. “The new Section 40 amendment ensures that Backward Classes, women, and children from the Muslim community will now have access to waqf property benefits, which were previously limited. These properties can now be leased out for educational and welfare institutions, which was not feasible earlier. Until now, only 3 per cent of the waqf property was being used effectively, but the reform aims to maximise its benefit for the community,” she said.
Choudhry attacked the Congress stating that the Congress had held two top-level meetings but still was not able to finalise the Leader of Opposition (LoP). Without naming him, she criticised former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, saying one person doesn’t allow others to rise and holds control over the Central leadership.
Refuting allegations by Congress MP from Hisar Jai Prakash that Hisar Airport wasn’t named after Maharaja Agrasen, Chaudhry stated that one terminal has been inaugurated and another is under construction – and the airport is indeed named after Maharaja Agrasen. She accused the Congress leader of being unable to accept the region’s development.
