Bhiwani cracks down on gambling, drug trafficking; 108 arrested in 3 months
The Bhiwani police conducted major operations against illegal arms, narcotics, illicit liquor trade and gambling activities in the last three months, leading to the arrest of 108 individuals.
Bhiwani SP Nitish Agrawal said in cases related to the Arms Act, 17 FIRs were registered and 33 accused were arrested. The police recovered 22 illegal pistols, one revolver, one shotgun and 33 cartridges from the arrested persons, he said.
Similarly, action taken under the NDPS Act led to registration of 15 cases and arrest of 25 persons in the cases of drug trafficking. The recovered narcotics included 73 kg 626 grams of cannabis, 52 grams and 310 milligrams of heroin, 9 grams of smack, and 3 kg 380 grams of charas, he said.
The SP said as part of the crackdown under the Excise Act (Amendment 2020), 27 cases were registered and 32 accused were arrested for involvement in the illegal liquor trade. The police recovered 1,133 bottles of country-made liquor, 178 bottles of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL), 992 beer bottles and additionally seized 263 kg of lahan and 40 bottles of illicit hooch. Three illegal liquor distilleries were also dismantled during the operation, he said. Besides, under the Gambling Act, seven cases were registered and 18 accused were arrested while an amount of Rs 91,840 was recovered from the gambling sites.
The SP stated that strict action would be taken against individuals involved in illegal arms, drugs, alcohol, or gambling in the district.
