Airport Entry Rules Change: Now you will get entry at the airport without boarding pass, a big change is going to happen in 50 years
In the coming time, there will be no need for check-in or boarding pass at airports across the world. You will be able to catch flights with face recognition and digital ID. This change can be implemented in the next 2-3 years under the leadership of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
New Delhi. Soon your air travel experience may change. Actually, there will be no need to check-in or show boarding pass at the airport. Now you will be able to catch a flight by just showing your face and showing digital ID from the phone. This change is considered to be the biggest improvement in air travel in the last 50 years. Aviation industries around the world are creating a new system under the leadership of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). It is called ‘Digital Travel Credential’. In this, the whole process will be completed with face scan (Face Recognition) and smartphone.
According to UK aviation experts, if this new technology is adopted on a large scale, then these changes can be implemented in the next 2 to 3 years. According to The Times, this upgrade will mean that passengers will no longer need to check-in before flights or carry boarding passes. Instead, when passengers book a flight, they will receive a ‘Journey Pass’ on their phone, which will contain all the necessary information including passport data, seat assignments, etc.
The biggest change in the aviation industry in 50 years
Valerie Viale, director of product management at Amadeus, the world’s largest travel technology provider, told The Times that this would be the biggest change in the aviation industry in the last 50 years.
What will this mean for passengers?
If the system is fully implemented, the need for boarding passes, passport checks and physical ID verification at multiple points will be eliminated. Facial recognition scanners at key touchpoints will identify passengers and inform airlines of their arrival. For those with only hand luggage, facial scans at the security entrance could replace any physical check-in. For those with check-in baggage, verification will take place at the bag drop. In both cases, passengers will not need to take out their passport or boarding pass.
The current process is complicated
Currently, passengers need to check-in online or at the airport, enter passport details and obtain a scannable boarding pass. This process will disappear completely after the change.
