OnePlus Nord CE 5 Leak Teases Bigger Battery, New Chipset & Camera Upgrades: What We Know So Far

OnePlus is seemingly stepping up its game with the upcoming Nord CE 5. Just weeks after a leak hinted at the phone’s battery capacity and codename, a fresh round of leaks has revealed nearly the entire spec sheet — and it looks like a significant upgrade over its predecessor, the Nord CE 4.

According to a new report from Smartprix, the Nord CE 5 is expected to bring changes across the board, from performance and camera improvements to a new design and larger battery. Here's what the leaks suggest.

Major Boost In Battery Capacity

One of the standout changes could be the phone’s battery. The Nord CE 5 is tipped to pack a massive 7,100mAh cell, a considerable leap from the 5,500mAh unit seen on the Nord CE 4. However, while the battery gets bigger, charging speed might take a slight step down — from 100W to 80W fast charging.

This change may indicate OnePlus is prioritising battery longevity over rapid top-ups this time around, a decision that could benefit users looking for extended screen time between charges.

MediaTek Chipset Powers the Show

The Nord CE 5 is expected to ditch the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in favour of the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset. While this move may raise eyebrows among Qualcomm loyalists, MediaTek’s recent chips have proven to be solid performers in the mid-range space. If true, this change could offer both efficiency and competitive processing power for multitasking and gaming.

On the memory front, the phone is said to come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage — a configuration that should be more than adequate for most users.

Camera Setup Looks Familiar But Improved

In the optics department, the Nord CE 5 is likely to feature a dual rear camera setup. The main shooter could be a 50MP Sony LYT600 or IMX882 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and support for 4K video recording at both 30 and 60fps. Accompanying it might be an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide-angle lens. While this setup sounds similar to the Nord CE 3, the updated sensors suggest improvements in image quality.

The front camera is expected to stay the same with a 16MP shooter for selfies — a carryover from the Nord CE 4.

Expected Design Refresh & Launch Timeline

While exact design details remain under wraps, reports suggest a visual overhaul is in the works. However, the phone may feature a single-speaker setup, which could be seen as a downgrade in an era where stereo speakers are becoming the norm.

As for pricing, the Nord CE 5 is expected to stick to the brand’s budget-friendly roots, likely launching under Rs 25,000. To recall, the Nord CE 4 was introduced at Rs 24,999. A launch is expected sometime in May, although OnePlus has yet to officially confirm the date.

With a larger battery, new processor, and potential design tweaks, the Nord CE 5 seems poised to shake things up in the mid-range Android segment — if these leaks turn out to be accurate.
