Those who provide homestays in UP will be exempted from commercial tax. The Yogi government is going to give a big relief. A consensus has been reached on this at the high level and preparations are on to get the proposal passed by the cabinet soon.

Yogi government is going to give a big relief to those who convert their houses into guest houses and run homestays. Such people will be charged house tax, water tax, sewer tax and electricity bill at normal rates instead of commercial tax. This relief is being prepared under the Uttar Pradesh Bed and Breakfast and Homestay Policy. Consensus has been reached on this at the high level and soon there are preparations to get the proposal passed by the cabinet.

Uttar Pradesh Bed and Breakfast Policy is being introduced keeping in view the facilities of pilgrims and foreign tourists visiting major tourist places, spiritual mythological centers and religious places of the state. Under this, those providing residential facilities, quality food, toiletries, lighting and drinking water arrangements, and transport to the destination will get the benefit. This policy will work to improve the experience of tourists by improving service standards and increasing accommodation options.

This will promote the development of the infrastructure of the state’s economy. New opportunities for income and employment will be available. It will also help in providing a rich and unforgettable experience to the visitors coming to the state for tourism. Under this policy, those running homestays will have to register themselves. In this, the building owner will be able to rent out a maximum of two-thirds of the rooms. Its number will be a minimum of one and a maximum of six or up to 12 beds. If it is more than this, the benefit of this scheme will not be given. The benefit of this scheme will be applicable in all areas of the state.

Those who register under this scheme will be charged electricity, house tax, water tax and sewer tax at domestic rates. Arrangements will also be made to provide training to those who register under this scheme so that they can increase their income by operating it properly. Those who apply will also be given financial assistance of up to Rs 10,000 as an incentive.
