Gurpatwant Pannun, 5 agents booked for Khalistani posters in Nakodar

Almost two months after Khalistani posters and slogans were found in Nakodar, the police have arrested three agents of designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

Pannun and his five agents have been booked for allegedly promoting enmity among various groups, conspiring to wage war against the Government of India and criminal conspiracy.

Nakodar DSP Sukhpal Singh said among those booked was Pannun, a native of Khankot village under the Jandiala Guru police station in Amritsar, currently settled in the US. His agents were identified as Balkaran Singh and Bir Sukhpal Singh, both residents of Khanpur Dhadda village, Karthik of Guru Teg Bahadar Nagar in Nakodar, Tejpal Singh, alias Palli, of Ranjit Nagar under the Nakodar (City) police station, and Jaskaranpreet Singh, alias Bawa.

The DSP said Tejpal Singh, Bir Sukhpal Singh and Karthik had been arrested. Jaskaranpreet Singh was settled in the UK, while Balkaran Singh was currently based in Canada, he added.

The DSP said the accused pasted Khalistani poster on walls near National College, Nakodar, and State Public School on February 13. They made a video and posted it on social media. On February 28, they wrote Khalistani and anti-Modi slogans on a highway bridge near the truck union office there.

The DSP said Pannun was the main conspirator who made videos viral on social media and gave money to Balkaran Singh in Canada. Balkaran Singh then sent money to his Indian accomplices for pasting posters, writing slogans and indulging in anti-India activities to instigate people and disturb peace in the state. A case was later registered against the accused under Sections 196, 148 and 61(2) of the BNS.
