‘Has no business….’: Shweta Bachchan once said daughter Navya Naveli Nanda that ‘just because she is…’
Fans are eagerly awaiting now for Bollywood debuts of younger generation of star kids. One of them is Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan’s granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda. She often grabs attention with her stunning pictures and videos on social media, which makes people think will she join the film industry or not. However, on Koffee With Karan Season 6, Shweta Bachchan revealed that her daughter has no plans to join Bollywood.
Shweta, who arrived with his brother Abhishek Bachchan on the popular talk show, revealed that she is concerned about Navya joining the film industry. She said, “I think I was excessive, unfair and only thought selfishly. It’s one of the bonuses that come from belonging to a family involved in the movies and also seeing the second generation of our family, namely my brother (Abhishek Bachchan) and sister-in-law (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), in the business.”
Shweta further emphasised that she doesn’t want another member of the family to enter the industry because she has seen them struggling, including her brother, Abhishek, “I also know the heartbreaks and I know it really, really well. I see their faces when things don’t work out. I am there on a human level. I see the hate my brother gets on Instagram and it gives me sleepless nights. And I don’t want another member of my family to be in this business,” she said.
The star daughter also pointed out that she isn’t aware about Navya’s talent, and being related to famous people doesn’t always guarantee success. “Also I don’t know what Navya’s talent is and unless she is completely driven, passionate and talented, she has no business being here. Just because she is related to some famous people, doesn’t mean she has what it takes,” Shweta added.
A few years ago, in an interview with Vogue, Shweta revealed that her daughter has no interest in pursuing acting, and is enjoying her internship at an advertising agency. Navya Naveli Nanda is Shweta Bachchan’s first child with husband, industrialist Nikhil Nanda.
