MP Mian Altaf reviews progress of development projects in Rajouri
Member of Parliament Mian Altaf on Monday chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting here at Dak Bungalow to review the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes and development works in the district.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma briefed the MP about the status of the ongoing developmental initiatives across different sectors.
The MP took a comprehensive review of centrally sponsored schemes, including MGNREGA, PMAY (Gramin & Urban), Tribal Welfare Schemes, Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) and the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA). He also reviewed the implementation of the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) and the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
In the health sector, the MP examined the functioning of Government Medical College (GMC), Rajouri. The MP emphasised the need for better patient care facilities and directed the GMC Principal to ensure the early functioning of the Child and Maternal Hospital. He also asked for timely estimation and construction of a Sarai (rest house) in the hospital.
Expressing concern over the shortage of medical staff, he directed the authorities concerned to expedite the process of filling vacant posts of doctors across the district.
Altaf also took stock of the progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). He directed the officials concerned to ensure that machinery for all lift water schemes is installed by December 2025 and instructed for the early commissioning of the filtration plants.
While reviewing the Power Development Department (PDD), he called for necessary improvements to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the region.
The MP also issued strict directions to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to expedite work on the Rajouri–Thanamandi–Surankote road and on the Jammu–Poonch National Highway. He further directed the PWD to ensure proper maintenance of all roads across the district.
He also assessed the status of pension schemes for old-age beneficiaries, widows, and beneficiaries under the State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS), and stressed on timely disbursal of benefits to the eligible persons.
