Parking chaos at Sirsa bus stand as tender delay troubles commuters

These days, people coming to Sirsa main bus stand are facing problems due to the lack of parking space. The issue began after the old parking contract expired and no new party had got the tender as yet. Because of this, the parking area has been barricaded and no vehicles are being allowed to be parked there.

As a result, commuters are being forced to leave their vehicles in the “no parking" areas, causing confusion and traffic congestion around the bus stand. Locals say that instead of solving the issue, Roadways staff are harassing those who bring vehicles to the area. People are complaining that their problems are not being heard by the department.

Normally, a designated parking area is available for two-wheelers and four-wheelers at the Sirsa bus stand. But now, with the parking space blocked off, vehicles are being parked along the main road leading to the stand, creating more traffic issues.

On Monday, a local named Mohan Lal Poonia from Hanjira village faced this problem when he went to drop his daughter to the bus stand. He was not allowed to take his car inside, even though the parking area was visibly empty. When he asked the staff why the area was barricaded, they allegedly argued with him. He even tried to call Cabinet minister Anil Vij but couldn’t connect. Later, he informed MLA Gokul Setia, who assured him help, but no solution came. Mohan Lal then called the police at 112, but roadways staff told the police they were acting on the orders coming from above, and the situation remained the same.

When asked, Roadways GM Ajay Dalal explained that the parking tender was awarded on March 20, but the party’s cheque bounced. A notice has been sent to them to either pay again or lose their security amount. He added that a new tender was scheduled for April 4 but got delayed due to VIP movement and officials being busy. The next tender date is now set for April 16 and the department hopes to restore proper parking facilities soon.
