Ambedkar’s dream being realised in Punjab: Bains
Punjab Education and Information & Public Relations Minister Harjot Singh Bains today said that the AAP government is fulfilling Dr BR Ambedkar’s vision in Punjab. He cited first-time reservation in the Advocate General’s Office, the induction of six SC ministers and smooth disbursement of SC scholarships as key examples.
Bains was speaking at an event commemorating Dr Ambedkar’s 134th birth anniversary at Rayat Bahra University (RBU), Kharar, organised by the local administration. He was accompanied by Member of Parliament Malvinder Singh Kang, who also paid floral tributes and urged youth to study Ambedkar’s work to help build an equitable society.
The Minister handed over Post Matric Scholarship sanction letters to seven students and Ashirwad (Shagun) Scheme letters to five families. In total, 7,461 students in the district have been approved for the scholarship scheme, while 790 families received Shagun benefits worth Rs 4.29 crore.
Two students, Amanpreet Kaur (BDS, RBU) and Rajni (Diploma, Govt Polytechnic Khooni Majra), shared how the scholarship helped them continue their education.
Teachers Dr Ravinder Kumar and Dr Ramandeep Kaur highlighted student success stories. Chancellor Gurvinder Singh Bahra of RBU was also present during the ceremony.
