Berhampur: Cycle Thief Arrested, 40 Stolen Bicycles Recovered

Berhampur: The Berhampur Police has arrested a habitual cycle thief and recovered 40 stolen bicycles.
The Baidhyanathpur Police nabbed 52-year-old P. Rajesh Patra, son of late P. Narahari Patra from Raja Sahi, Badabazar, and originally from Antaraba, Mohana, Gajapati district.
Patra was caught during a routine patrol while attempting to steal a bicycle.

Previously arrested in December 2024 under Badabazar PS Case No. 424 for similar offenses, Patra was released from jail in early February 2025.
Following sustained interrogation after his latest apprehension, 40 bicycles, he stole from various locations across Berhampur town, were recovered.
Patra reportedly sold the stolen cycles for ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 each, deceiving buyers by claiming he was selling stock from a closed cycle shop.
The recovered bicycles are currently at Baidhyanathpur Police Station.
Meanwhile, Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M. urged the people, who have lost their bicycles to contact Baidhyanathpur Police Station to reclaim their bicycles.
