NIA quizzes Tahawwur Rana about his 'handler in Dubai', link with Dawood Ibrahim on day 4 of interrogation: Report

On the fourth day of his interrogation, Mumbai terror attack mastermind Tahawwur Hussain Rana was reportedly asked about his handler in Dubai and his apparent links with terrorist Dawood Ibrahim, according to local media reports.

Rana, a 64-year-old Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman, is currently in NIA's custody after being flown to India from the US on Thursday evening. Investigators are probing Rana's links with Pakistan's ISI and terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Besides, his possible links with Dawood Ibrahim is also under scanner.

The NIA will also question Rana about the CCTV footage from many locations in Mumbai where he was seen with another terrorist David Coleman Headley. Headley alias Daood Gilani struck a bargain with the US authorities, pleading guilty to avoid extradition to India.

Investigators believe Headley and Rana were in constant touch with terrorists in Kashmir and Dubai during the Mumbai attack. The central investigation agency is also trying to find out who the local helper of Rana and Headley was, in India.

Local media reports said Rana may be confronted with some witnesses, the identity of who will remain concealed. When Headley came to India in September, he was reportedly received by a person identified as 'B'. Rana had reportedly got in touch with B and asked for his help to make all arrangements for Headley. The NIA team could make Rana sit face-to-face with the witness, according to Aaj Tak.

Rana was brought to the NIA headquarters early Friday morning after a Delhi court granted 18-day custody to the probe agency, following his extradition from the US. He is kept in a highly-secured cell, inside the anti-terror agency's head office at CGO complex here, being guarded by security personnel round the clock, the sources said.
