Lodha Brothers Settle Trademark Dispute, Abhishek & Abhinandan Define Brand Boundaries

Mumbai: In a significant development within the Indian real estate sector, brothers Abhishek and Abhinandan Lodha have amicably resolved their legal battle over the use of the prestigious ‘Lodha’ brand name. The dispute, which stemmed from trademark concerns, has been settled under the guidance of their parents and with the assistance of mediation by retired Justice R V Raveendran.

The resolution marks the end of a months-long trademark dispute between Macrotech Developers Ltd, headed by elder brother Abhishek Lodha, and the House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL), led by the younger sibling.

Clear Brand Segmentation Going Forward

As per the agreement, Macrotech Developers—listed on the stock exchange—will retain exclusive rights to use the ‘Lodha’ and ‘Lodha Group’ brand names. The company will continue its operations under this well-established identity in the Indian real estate market.

Meanwhile, Abhinandan Lodha will continue building his business under the 'House of Abhinandan Lodha' (HoABL) brand. He has been focusing on the residential plot development segment across major Indian cities and will operate independently from Macrotech.

Mutual Non-Interference Clause

A key part of the settlement involves a mutual understanding that neither brother will have any rights, claims, or affiliations with the other’s business interests. This ensures that Macrotech Developers and HoABL function as entirely separate entities with no overlaps in branding or operations.

Both firms have committed to publicly and clearly communicating that they are unconnected in any form, to avoid market confusion and maintain clarity among customers and stakeholders.

Acknowledgment of Mediators' Role

The statement jointly released by both parties conveyed their gratitude to Justice R V Raveendran (Retd.) for his role in the mediation process. They also acknowledged the encouragement received from Justice Arif Doctor, which played a crucial part in guiding the brothers toward an amicable settlement.

A Peaceful Resolution Amid Growth

Macrotech Developers, with its Lodha brand, continues to be one of India’s top real estate players, while HoABL carves its niche in plotted developments. With the legal chapter closed, both brothers can now pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions without brand-related conflicts.
