Fans Exchange Blows At Arun Jaitley Stadium During IPL Match - Watch
The 29th match of IPL 2025, held at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday (April 13), had its share of drama both on and off the field.
Delhi Capitals faced their first defeat of the season as Mumbai Indians secured a 12-run win — their second win of the campaign. However, the match made headlines not just for the result, but also due to a fan brawl in the stands and a tense exchange between two players on the field.
Chaos in the Stands
A major scuffle broke out among spectators during the game, and a video of the incident quickly went viral on social media.
In the 48-second clip, a man is seen being attacked by another man and a woman. In retaliation, he pushes both, causing them to fall. An elderly man also gets caught up in the fracas. Eventually, other fans and security personnel intervened to defuse the situation and restore order. The reason behind the altercation remains unknown.
Bumrah-Nair Verbal Clash
On the field, an exchange of words occurred between Mumbai pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Delhi batter Karun Nair.
Nair, batting confidently, completed his half-century by running two on the last ball of Bumrah's over. However, during the run, the two players collided, which didn't sit well with Bumrah.
A brief argument followed during the drinks break, with Bumrah reportedly telling Nair that he had run through his path. Nair responded, and the situation was quickly diffused by MI captain Hardik Pandya. Rohit Sharma was also seen signaling from the dugout, possibly urging calm.
At 33, Karun Nair made a remarkable return to the IPL, stepping in as an impact player for Delhi Capitals in Sunday’s clash at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Making the most of his opportunity, Nair smashed a stunning 89 off just 40 balls.
Despite his explosive knock, Delhi Capitals fell short by 12 runs against MI. The defeat was disheartening for Nair, as this match marked his comeback season in IPL after being away since 2022.
