New Delhi: The Saudi Arabian government has decided not to issue visas to children under the age of 12 for the Hajj pilgrimage. Following the recent decision, the applications of 291 children have been rejected, including 18 from Uttar Pradesh. This year, a total of 13,748 pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh are scheduled to travel for Hajj. Among them were 18 children under the age of 12 from different districts of the state.
UP Hajj Committee Secretary S.P. Tiwari informed that the Hajj Committee of India has issued a circular stating that for Hajj 2025, the Saudi Arabian government is not issuing visas for children below 12 years of age. He added that due to this restriction imposed by the Saudi government, 291 children under the age of 12 from various states across the country will not be able to go for Hajj.
It is important to note that SP Tiwari has said that in the cover numbers where children are included, other Hajj pilgrims will still be able to proceed on the pilgrimage. He further informed that that if any Hajj pilgrim affected by the inclusion of a child in the cover number wishes to cancel their journey by April 14 through the online portal or the Hajj Suvidha App, their journey will be canceled.
No cancellation fee will be charged in such cases. He added that after April 14, cancellations will be subject to deductions as per the rules.
