Over 130 student leaders participate in two-day university conference
Over 130 student leaders from universities across India participated in the two-day National State University Conference held here today. The event, organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), aimed to strengthen the academic atmosphere in state universities and encourage students to prioritise education and nation-building.
ABVP’s national co-convener for state universities, Amit Kumar, said the conference focused on redirecting students from negative influences toward constructive educational goals. He highlighted that several national leaders of ABVP were present, including National General Secretary Ashish Chauhan, former National Vice President Dr Pradeep Kumar, Joint General Secretary Gopal Nayak, former National General Secretary Dr Nidhi Tripathi Bahuguna and National Convener Amba Das.
In his keynote address, Ashish Chauhan emphasised the critical role of state universities in shaping national narratives. He noted that many movements that influence the country’s direction originate from university campuses. Chauhan urged student leaders to conduct student union elections with dignity and uphold ABVP’s principles rather than treating elections as mere contests of power.
Joint general secretary Govind Nayak discussed ABVP’s commitment to reaching all sections of society through inclusive programmes. He said the organisation not only builds committed student activists but also focuses on their holistic personality development, contributing to national reconstruction. He proposed forming four activity-based committees to expand ABVP’s outreach and engagement.
Former general secretary Dr Nidhi Tripathi Bahuguna and north zonal organisational secretary Gaurav Atri also addressed the participants.
