GRP crack blind murder case, 2 held
Two months after the body of a man was found near the railway tracks between the Butari and Beas railway stations, personnel of the Government Railway Police (GRP) have arrested a woman and her alleged paramour for the victim’s murder.
The deceased was identified as Kashmir Singh of Nikka Rayya Khurd village. His wife was identified as Balwinder Kaur, alias Bindro (50), and her alleged paramour as Amar Singh (70) of Dialgarh village falling under the Kathunangal police station here.
Balbir Singh Ghuman, SHO, GRP police station, said on February 7, the police had found a man’s body from the railway tracks on the Butari-Beas railway section. The deceased was later identified as Kashmir Singh after his son Saajan Singh identified his body.
The victim’s body bore sharp-edged weapon-caused injury marks on the body. He said during investigation, the police analysed the call details and CCTV cameras in the area and got suspicious of Balwinder Kaur’s involvement in the case.
She along with other family members was asked to join the probe. During interrogation, she confessed that Amar Singh had killed Kashmir Singh with a datar. They later carried his body on a motorcycle and dumped it on the railway tracks.
Ghuman said the police had arrested the two and recovered the datar and the motorcycle used in the crime. He said the alleged illicit relations between the two were the reason behind the incident.
