Brace for fresh heatwave in region from tomorrow
After a brief respite, parts of northwest India are bracing for another round of heatwave conditions starting April 15, as forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Temperatures across northwest India are expected to rise gradually by 3°C to 5°C, with heatwave conditions likely in Punjab, Haryana and east Rajasthan between April 16 and 19.
A yellow alert has been issued in Delhi for April 16 and 17, with daytime temperatures predicted to exceed 40°C. Nighttime temperatures, however, will remain relatively comfortable, hovering between 23°C and 25°C. On Sunday, the capital recorded a high of 36.6°C.
The IMD also warned of hot and humid weather in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on April 13, as well as in Gujarat from April 15 to 17. West Rajasthan is expected to face heatwave conditions on April 14 and 15, with severe heatwaves in many areas between April 16 and 18, and in isolated pockets on April 19, the IMD said.
Additionally, isolated heatwave conditions are likely in north Tamil Nadu on April 13 and in Telangana on April 13 and 14.
Meanwhile, the western disturbance that recently brought thunderstorms and rain to northwest India has shifted eastward. Light rainfall is now expected in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Assam, Meghalaya, Odisha, Sikkim and parts of West Bengal.
Last month, the Union Health Ministry urged states to review healthcare preparedness for heatstroke and other heat-related illnesses.
