High-security jail at Rohtak soon
Haryana Minister for Cooperatives, Prisons, Elections, Heritage and Tourism Dr Arvind Sharma has stated that the construction of a modern and high-security jail in Rohtak will be completed this year.
Hardcore criminals, gangsters and terrorists will be kept under tight security in the jail equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, he said.
The Jail Minister inspected the district jail located at Sunaria village in Rohtak on Saturday.
He sought detailed information about the undertrials and prisoners lodged in the prison from Jail Superintendent Satyawan and Deputy Jail Superintendent Dinesh Yadav.
He also took feedback about the high-security jail being built on 19 acres.
The officials told the minister that the construction work of the jail would be completed this year.
“To ensure fool-proof security, only concrete and cement have been used for the construction of the jail. There will be no electricity point in any cell. This jail will be the first jail in the state and a unique one in the country in which hardcore criminals, gangsters and terrorists will be kept," they said, adding that 312 cells were being made in the two-storey high-security jail.
Sharma also reviewed the arrangements being made for the security of 1,319 undertrials and prisoners lodged in the district jail.
He inspected the attendance register and directed the jail officials to provide the prisoners with quality food.
The minister inspected the radio station, workshop and other projects at the jail.
He instructed the Jail Superintendent to ensure the maintenance of cleanliness in the jail complex. He emphasised on organising regular programmes for undertrials and prisoners so that their mental health remained sound.
