Children Pleaded, Onlookers Filmed the Incident
According to the police, the brutal murder took place on Friday (April 11) evening at Kalimullah’s residence. Witnesses reported that the accused mercilessly beat his wife, Mehrunnisa, even after she collapsed, while their terrified children cried and begged him to stop. Shockingly, instead of intervening, some locals recorded the incident on their phones.
“The children kept shouting for help, kept crying, but the accused husband kept hitting his wife with a stick even after her death,” said a witness, quoted by India TV.
As per reports, Mehrunnisa had reportedly returned from her maternal home just two days earlier, after Kalimullah called her under the pretext of attending a relative’s wedding. She was initially reluctant but was persuaded by her extended family to return.
History of Abuse In Marriage
Kalimullah, who reportedly has a history of drug addiction and violent behaviour, had married Mehrunnisa, the widow of his elder brother, following his death. The couple had three children together. Mehrunnisa also had two sons from her previous marriage, who live with their grandparents.
The deceased's family members also alleged repeated incidents of abuse. Another neighbour reported that Mehrunnisa had left for her maternal home because she was severely beaten up by Kalimullah. Despite attempts at local mediation, the abuse continued. The situation escalated fatally when the accused attacked his wife just a day before a family wedding event.
Police are currently on the lookout for the accused; however, an FIR has been registered against him.
