David Warner’s fiery response to Pakistani reporter on ‘Indians trolling for PSL stint’ question

David Warner, overlooked in the IPL 2025 auction, will make his Pakistan Super League (PSL) debut with the Karachi Kings. His signing for a record 2.58 crore rupees makes him the PSL’s most expensive player and he’ll captain the team. Warner’s first match is Saturday against the Multan Sultans, and he recently addressed the media in Karachi, fielding a question that reportedly caused some discomfort.

A news report alleged that Indian cricket fans online criticized David Warner for participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to his exclusion from the Indian Premier League (IPL). Warner denied this, stating he was unaware of such criticism.

“This is the first I’ve heard of it. From my perspective, I want to play cricket. There’s an opportunity to come to PSL. My international calendar didn’t allow me to come to PSL due to the timings. Now, I want to compete, captain the Karachi Kings, and hopefully we are able to win the trophy,” Warner said during the press conference.

After failing to secure a contract in the Indian Premier League auction last November, Warner participated in the Pakistan Super League draft earlier this year.

The Karachi Kings selected David Warner as their top Platinum-level player in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 draft, which took place in Lahore’s Hazoori Bagh.

A veteran left-handed batsman has a strong T20 record, accumulating 12,913 runs across 399 matches, averaging 37.00 and boasting a strike rate of 140.23.

Warner retired from international cricket last year.
