World’s highest bridge is in China, taller than Eiffel Tower, 9 times higher than…, it cost…, will reduce travel time by….
Have you ever seen the world’s highest bridge? After the Three Gorges Dam, China is once again in the news headlines because of its new milestone in infrastructure development, as its engineers successfully complete the construction of the world’s highest bridge. As per the Metro report, the new Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, the world’s highest bridge, is expected to open in June. It comes with a price tag of £216,000,000( Rs 2,200 crore).
Speaking of its salient feature, the newly constructed bridge is a marvel of modern engineering — standing over 200 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower and weighing nearly three times as much. “This super project spanning the “Earth’s crack” will showcase China’s engineering capabilities and boost Guizhou’s goal of becoming a world-class tourist destination,” Chinese politician Zhang Shenglin was quoted as saying by Metro. ‘Its steel trusses weigh about 22,000 metric tons — the equivalent of three Eiffel Towers — and were installed in just two months,’ he added.

Another amazing feature of the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is that it stands an astounding nine times taller than London’s Tower Bridge and is twice the height of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The opening of the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is set to bring major relief to local residents by drastically improving connectivity. At present, crossing the vast canyon takes at least an hour, but once the bridge becomes operational, the travel time will be slashed to just 2 to 3 minutes.
