Kerala woman, who gifted Lord Krishna painting to PM Modi, booked for filming video at Guruvayor temple

A woman artist in Kerala, known for her paintings and devotion to Lord Krishna, has been booked for allegedly filming a video on the premises of Guruvayur temple and circulating it on social media.
According to the Guruvayur Temple Police, Jasna Salim, who hails from Koyilandi in Kozhikode, recently filmed a video of an idol of Lord Krishna at the eastern entrance of the temple.
As the video started circulating on social media, the temple authorities approached the police and a case was registered against her.
According to police, Jasna had violated the High Court order which banned shooting videos within the shrine premises and sharing them on social media platforms.
Jasna was booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 192 (provocation with intent to cause a riot).
An ardent Krishna devotee, Jasna has created hundreds of paintings of little Lord Krishna, which have found many takers both within and outside the state.
She gifted a painting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi when she visited Guruvayur to attend the wedding of BJP MP Suresh Gopi’s daughter in January 2024.
Jasna had courted controversy earlier when she cut a cake near the Guruvayur temple premises and shot a video of the event. The Devaswom authorities approached the high court which banned filming videos on the temple premises.
The cake-cutting incident had also stirred up a storm with some right-wing quarters accusing her of hurting religious sentiments.
Later, talking at a press meet in Kozhikode, Jasna said she was being subjected to cyberbullying and social media trolls after the incident.
