In Slovakia, Prez highlights growing bilateral relations

President Droupadi Murmu addressed members of the Indian community at a reception hosted by the Indian Ambassador to Slovakia in Bratislava, according to an official statement issued on Friday.

Minister of State Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya and Members of Parliament Dhaval Patel and Sandhya Ray were also present at the event.

Addressing the enthusiastic gathering, the President said relations between India and Slovakia were founded on mutual respect and shared democratic values. She expressed satisfaction at the steady growth of economic, political and cultural ties between the two nations over the years.

Murmu shared details of her meetings with the President, Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Council of Slovakia, noting that discussions focused on further strengthening bilateral cooperation across various fields. She added that Slovak leaders had conveyed deep appreciation for the Indian community’s hard work and their contribution to the country’s development.

The President also thanked Slovak friends of India for their role in deepening mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries. She noted the popularity of Indian heritage and traditions in Slovakia — from yoga and Ayurveda to Indian cuisine — as a testament to the cultural bridge between the peoples of both nations.

She expressed confidence that the translation of the Upanishads into Slovak would offer a meaningful opportunity for Slovak readers to engage with India’s ancient wisdom.

Earlier on Friday, Murmu also interacted with members of the Indian business delegation before departing for New Delhi.
