Dynastic welfare their guiding principle: PM takes dig at Opposition
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday took a dig at the Congress-led Opposition, accusing them of pursuing power to further nepotistic agendas.
Addressing a gathering at his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, Modi said while the NDA dispensation was guided by the motto ‘sabka saath sabka vikas’, its rivals were engaged in pursuing power for the benefit of their families.
“Sabka saath, sabka vishwas is at the core of our governance strategy. But for those who play games day in and day out with the purpose to usurp political power, ‘parivar ka saath, parivar ka vikas’ is their guiding principle,” the PM said.
He was in the holy city to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate development works, worth over Rs 3,880 crore. Hailing the BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh as a land of possibilities and competence, Modi said Varanasi had emerged as a capital of good health.
“In the last 10 years, the development of Varanasi has gained a new momentum. Kashi has embraced modernity, preserved its heritage and adopted a bright future. It is no longer just an ancient place, but is also a progressive city, which is now positioned at the centre of Purvanchal’s economic map,” said the PM.
On the occasion of Jyotiba Phule’s birth anniversary on Friday, the PM saluted his and Savitribai Phule’s lifelong dedication to the welfare of society.
Talking about the distribution of bonuses to livestock-rearing families associated with UP’s Banas Dairy Plant, the PM said this bonus, exceeding Rs 100 crore, was not a gift but a reward for hard work.
Modi said the Banas Dairy in Kashi had reshaped the destinies of thousands. “India has become the largest milk producer globally, with a nearly 65% increase in milk production over the past decade”, said the Prime Minister.
3 more arrested for Varanasi gang rape
Three more accused have been arrested in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 19-year-old woman in Varanasi, a police official said on Friday. With these arrests, the police have captured 12 of the 23 accused in the case.
The news about the latest arrests came barely hours after PM Modi arrived here this morning. The PM also received a detailed briefing about the case and asked officials to take the strictest possible action against those involved, according to an official statement.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Cantonment) Vidush Saxena said that the police arrested the three on Thursday and are continuously conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused.
According to the complaint, the victim was gang-raped by 23 people across multiple places between March 29 and April 4. The survivor’s family filed the complaint in this regard on April 6. — PTI
