Kangana to ‘cooperate’ with govt in execution of central schemes
Local MP Kangana Ranaut chaired a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) here today to review the progress of Central Government-sponsored schemes in the district. She said that she was committed to ensuring the timely and effective implementation of central schemes and the state government would receive her full cooperation in this regard.
Kangana emphasised the importance of executing infrastructure projects on schedule. She reviewed the ongoing construction of the Kiratpur-Manali and Mandi-Pathankot four-lane highways by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) as well as the Hamirpur-Mandi via Kotli two-lane road being developed by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. She directed the officials concerned to ensure that these projects were completed in the timeline and resolve any difficulties being faced by the local population during construction.
She expressed displeasure over the absence of the NHAI Project Director in the meeting. She assessed the progress of roads and bridges under construction under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase-III and the Central Road Fund (CRF) being implemented by the state Public Works Department. She urged officials to expedite these works and ensure that these were completed without delay.
Kangana instructed departments to conduct awareness campaigns and encourage public participation to ensure proper disposal of waste in both rural and urban areas. She said that updates on issues raised during the meeting be timely shared with her. Kangana directed the Sports Department to prepare a detailed report under the Khelo India programme for expanding sports activities in the region. She also reviewed the work being executed under the MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme and other central schemes being implemented through the state government.
She said that politics should not be done on electricity bill payment. “I am not running a factory in my house for which I have received an electricity bill of around Rs 1 lakh. It is very strange that till last year, I did not receive electricity bills of more than Rs 5000, which now has risen to about Rs 1 lakh.
