HC seeks minister’s reply on judicial complex construction

The HP High Court today sought response from local MLA of Jaisinghpur, Yadvinder Goma, who is Minister of Ayush, Law and Legal, Youth Services and Sports, of the state government on the issue of construction of judicial Court Complex at Jaisinghpur.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia and Justice Ranjan Sharma passed this order on a Public Interest Litigation for the construction of new judicial complex.

It was alleged in the petition that the old judicial court complex can be as such dismantled and the judicial complex would be constructed at the said spot, which is being opposed by the local MLA.

An application for interim order has been filed contending therein that the residence of Naib Tehsildar has been demolished from the above said land and the local MLA, has laid foundation stone on March, 15, 2025 for the purpose of construction of residential houses for revenue department.

Taking a serious note on this issue, the court observed that “keeping in view of the fact that the matter was pending before this Court since October 29, 2024 and the efforts as such to start construction for residential premises and to lay a foundation stone prima facie would be directly amount to interfering in the administration of justice.”

The court also stayed all the constructions in the said area in any form for the benefit of revenue officials and directed the Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, to submit a report regarding the said aspect that there is no construction being raised through the concerned SDM.
