She then went on to appear in superhit projects like Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Dream Girl and more. But did you know that Nushrratt was once rejected for a Hollywood film? Yes you heard that right! The actress auditioned for an iconic role in an Oscar-winning film but was turned down due to her looks.
Before you start guessing which movie it is, let us tell you all that it is Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire. Bharuccha was shortlisted for the role, impressive filmmakers with her acting skills. But what went wrong? The actress lost the part to Frieda Pinto because of her looks. In a conversation with IANS, the Dream Girl actress said, “I was one of the shortlisted girls for the female lead of the Oscar-winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire‘ along with Freida Pinto. But I was not finalised because of my looks. (Director) Danny Boyle’s team sat me down and explained that I do not look like a girl coming from slum area. I was told that I am a damn good actor and everything is perfect except the fact that my look doesn’t fit the character.”
Nushrratt further revealed that many casting directors rejected her due to her urban appearance. “It happened to me later also. Casting directors said that I look like an urban girl with sharp features. Maybe that is true, but we are living at a time where a lot of advanced make-up techniques are available.” The actress said.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Nushrratt’s Chhorii 2 is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Helmed by Vishal Furia, the second installment of this gripping series also features Soha Ali Khan and Gashmeer Mahajani.
