VIDEO: 'Mumbai To Host First WAVES Summit In May; PM Modi To Attend', Says CM Devendra Fadnavis
Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that Mumbai will host India's first World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) from May 1 to 4. The announcement was made during a press conference with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, where multiple key infrastructure projects were unveiled.
The chief minister said, "Mumbai will host the first WAVES Summit in May this year. PM Narendra Modi will be attending it. India should lead the technical and other creative aspects of the audiovisual sector. Mumbai will also have India’s first IICT (Indian Institute of Creative Technology). I thank IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for this."
He also added, "Mumbai is India’s entertainment capital, and now we aim to create it as the entertainment capital of the world. This will be a joint effort of the central government and the Maharashtra government," as per news agency ANI.
The Chief Minister stated that the Information & Broadcasting Ministry has offered over 240 acres of land in Malad, Mumbai, to develop world-class creative infrastructure. He emphasised that anyone can come forward to set up a film city or other infrastructure. Highlighting Mumbai’s unique environment for the entertainment industry, he said, “The natural atmosphere here in Mumbai for Film City is found nowhere else, and that is why we are on our path to creating Mumbai as the world’s entertainment capital."
