In a major political development, former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to return to her country soon. In this regard, Bangladesh Police has been asked to remain alert.
According highly placed sources in police, in the next one week, 200 to 250 Awami League supporters from every state of Bangladesh can move towards the capital Dhaka and keeping this in mind, the police administration has increased vigilance.
Zee News has accessed an official order issued by the Chittagong Metropolitan Police, in which all station incharges have been instructed to keep a vigil in their respective areas and take necessary action to immediately stop any anti-social or anti-national activities.
According to the police, there is a possibility of Awami League supporters creating some kind of disturbance. In such a situation, instructions have been given to be extra cautious. The order also states that many criminals may be involved in anti-national activities by illegally using mobile phones, SIM cards and social media.
Police instructions are as follows
- The activities of all Awamilig supporters should be constantly monitored.
- Suspicious persons should be identified and monitored in all police station areas.
- People should be made aware to remain alert through local mosques, political parties (BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, NCP) and religious leaders.
- In such a situation, no one should be allowed to move towards Dhaka. Hasina supporters should be stopped in their area.
- Illegal documents, fake IDs, and passport related activities should be investigated immediately.
- All criminals against whom cases are registered should be arrested through mobile trucks
Additionally, all police stations have been directed to send special reports to the headquarters by 8 pm every day.
- A copy of this directive signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Police has also been sent to all senior police officers, security agencies and administrative units to maintain law and order in the country.
- This police directive is considered important amid political turmoil over the return of Sheikh Hasina to Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, a Bangladesh court issued an arrest warrant against 18 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her daughter Saima Wazed Putul, in a case filed on allegations of corruption in a plot allotment under the Purbachal New Town project.
