'Koi Bewakoof Hi Hoga': Akshay Kumar Responds To Jaya Bachchan's Criticism Of His Film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (VIDEO)
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar gave a befitting reply to his haters and trolls on Friday as he said that one must be a fool to not like his social dramas like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Padman, and others. Interestingly, Akshay's comment comes days after veteran actress and parliamentarian Jaya Bachchan had trolled the film, calling it a "flop picture".
During the press conference of his upcoming film, Kesari: Chapter 2, Akshay was asked about his feelings when his films are criticised by members of the film fraternity. To that, the actor replied, "I don't think anyone has criticised my films. Koi bewakoof hi hoga jo criticise karega jaisi filmein banayi hai maine... I made Padman, I made Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Airlift, Kesari, now Kesari 2... There are many such films that I have made."
"One has to be a fool to criticise such films. I've made these films with all my heart and these films also teach people a lot of things. So I don't think anyone has criticised these films," he added.
A journalist then pointed out that it was Jaya Bachchan who had recently criticised Toilet because of its title, to which Akshay responded, "Ab agar unhone kaha hai toh phir sahi hoga, mujhe nahi pata. Agar Toilet: Ek Prem Katha ek aisi film banake maine koi galat kaam kiya hai toh phir...agar woh keh rahi hain toh sahi hoga."
What did Jaya Bachchan say?
For those unversed, a few days ago, Jaya had appeared at a conclave during which she discussed certain films that have been supported by the government too. When she was cited the example of Akshay's Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, she replied, "Abhi aap naam bhi dekhiye, main aisi picture khud kabhi naa dekhne jao. Toilet Ek Prem Katha, yeh koi naam hai? Yeh koi title hai?"
She went on to ask the audience who will watch a film with such a title, and when a few people raised their hands, she quipped, "tne log mein chaar log haath utha rahe hai, very sad. Picture flop hai."
Later, Prerna Arora, the co-producer of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, had called out Jaya's statement and in response to it, had said, "It is very hurtful to hear her say that our film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was a flop. Ma’am should check the box office figures. Our film earned a very handsome profit. It was one of the five biggest hits of 2017."
