3 Months On, Madhya Pradesh's Rape-Accused Tehsildar Remains Absconding; Victim Claims SDM Protecting Him
Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Three months on, a Gwalior tehsildar, accused of sexually exploiting a woman for 17 years on the pretext of marriage, remains absconding.
A case of rape was registered against Tehsildar Shatrughan Singh Chauhan in Mahila Thana Gwalior on January 15. Police announced a bounty of Rs 5000 on him, however he is yet to be traced.
Victim claims SDM is protecting the accused
The victim reached the SSP office on Thursday, and submitted an application demanding the arrest of the Tehsildar. The woman alleged that SDM Vinod Singh of Gwalior City Center is protecting the accused.
The woman claimed that there is a constant phone contact between the SDM and the Tehsildar. If the call details are searched, the location and network of the accused can be traced.
The victim alleged that the Tehsildar and SDM have been working together for a long time. Together they targeted government lands and tried to take them into their possession illegally.
In the complaint, the woman briefed that the accused is being helped to remain absconding. If the police conducts an impartial investigation and traces the call details and location, then the arrest of the Tehsildar is possible.
On the other hand, SDM Vinod Singh rejected all the allegations and said that I do not even know the woman, so the question of saving her does not arise.
16 criminal case registered against the accused
A total of 16 criminal cases are already registered against Chauhan under serious sections like murder, attempt to murder, robbery and dacoity. These cases are registered in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh and Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh.
The 34-year-old victim, a resident of Thatipur area, belongs to Bhind. She got married in 2005-06 but her husband died two years later.
Applying vermilion in 2010
Chauhan enacted a drama of marriage by applying vermilion (sindoor) a symbol of marriage in Ratangarh Mata Temple in year 2010. The duo loved together during his posting. The victim claimed that the accused also bore her expenses.
