13 suspects rounded up in Chankoin firing case

Doraha police rounded up 13 suspects in connection to the firing incident that took place at Chankoin Khurd village on Tuesday evening.

Those arrested include Narinder Singh, alias Lucky, of Dashmesh Nagar, Doraha; Simranjeet Singh, alias Gaggi, of NRI colony, Doraha; Gurpreet Singh, alias Gaggi, and Satpal Singh, alais, banni of Bilaspur village; Gurwinder Singh, alias Prince, of Bela in Chamkaur Sahib; Sunny of Ward 13, Samrala; Arshdeep of Ratangarh in Koom Kalan; Harman Singh, alias Rohit, of Ghudani Kalan; Jashandeep Sihala of Samrala; Gurcharan Singh of Sangatpura in Samrala; Sanjaypreet of Kotla in Chamkaur Sahib; Gurmeet Singh, alias Laddi, of village Kamma in Khanna; and Gurmeet Singh, alias Sagar, of Kot Panech in Khanna.

The attackers, armed with guns, daggers, kirpans and rods, had attacked the family of a former sarpanch of Chankoin Khurd village at their farm on Monday. They had attacked them with rods, daggers and kirpans and opened fire on the family as a result of which six persons, including two women had been injured.

Doraha SHO Jaswinder Singh said a land dispute between the two parties was the reason behind the attack. “We have arrested a total of 13 suspects in the case and taken them on remand. A majority of the suspects have a history of crime and are wanted in different cases,” the SHO added.
