NEET-PG 2024: Medical college begins process to hold 3rd round of counselling
The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, has initiated the process to hold long-awaited third round of state quota counselling for MD/MS courses for the academic session 2024–25.
The counselling process, which had been delayed due to legal proceedings, is now being conducted for 35 seats in compliance with a recent judgment by the Supreme Court and as per instructions of the Chandigarh Administration.
According to a notice issued by the GMCH Director Principal, all remaining UT state quota seats will now be filled through the Institutional Preference Pool. These admissions will be based on candidates’ NEET-PG 2024 ranks.
The college has opened the application window from April 10 to April 14 for candidates who have become eligible following the recent reduction in qualifying percentile by the National Board of Examinations. The board had earlier lowered the eligibility threshold to the 5th percentile, thereby allowing a fresh group of candidates to participate in this counselling round.
Candidates now qualifying under the new percentile range can submit their applications online through the GMCH website. Those who had previously applied and now meet the revised eligibility criteria need not apply again.
Following the completion of the third round, the GMCH will also conduct a stray vacancy round to fill any remaining seat(s). A separate application process for the stray round will also be hosted on the college’s official website.
The notice further stated that while this announcement is meant to initiate the counselling process, the actual conduct of counselling is subject to the final permission from the National Medical Commission and the Medical Counselling Committee. The college has submitted a request for the necessary approvals and will proceed once the green light is received from the central authorities.
All details regarding available seats across various departments, application links, and category-specific eligibility will be made available on the website www.gmch.gov.in.
