US-based Sikh scholar addresses session on Bhai Vir Singh

Inni Kaur, Creative Director of the New Jersey-based Sikh Research Institute (SikhRI), who is herself an author, visited the Niwas Sthaan of Bhai Vir Singh and addressed a session on his body of work. Talking about the Sikh scholar, philanthropist and writer, Inni Kaur, who has authored several books on Sikh values and teachings of Gurus, said that as a young girl, Bhai Vir Singh’s literature introduced her to the Sikh way of life.

“As a convent educated young girl, born and brought up overseas, it was only the writings of Bhai Vir Singh ji that connected me to my roots,” she shared. The session had several noted Sikh scholars, writers and educators present.

In an emotional interaction with the sangat (audience), she shared her life experiences from an English living, being a scholar of Sikh literature, spirituality and authorship. She attributed it all to the wisdom of Bhai Vir Singh and his scholarship.

Gunbir Singh, vice-president, Bhai Vir Singh Niwas Asthaan, said that Inni’s contributions to the Sikh cause were commendable. He also shared that her translation of Sakhis in English are to be published by the Sahitya Sadan at Delhi.
