Shanthi Priya, who once worked with Akshay Kumar, became a sensation in the 1990s. She was the first actress with whom Akshay shared the screen. Before stepping into Bollywood, Shanthi made her debut in the 1987 Telugu release Kaboye Alludu. In the same year, she also made her debut in the Tamil industry. The actress always remained in the limelight and recently also made headlines when she shaved off her head.

Recently, Shanthi Priya took to Instagram and shared a picture where she can be seen bald. The actress embraced her bold look by shaving her head and wearing a brown blazer that belonged to her late husband Siddharth Ray, who passed away in 2004.

Sharing the caption, she wrote, “I recently went bald and my experience has been quite something. As women, we often set limitations in life, go by the rules and even keep ourselves caged. With this transformation, I have set myself free, free from limitations and intending to break the beauty standards that the world has set upon us and I do it with a lot of courage and faith in my heart!”

She added, “Today, I also carry the memory of my late husband close, in his blazer that still holds his warmth.”

As soon as the actress shared the picture, the internet in two parts. While many users came in her support, others even criticised her for the same. A user took to the comment section and wrote, “Long hair is the beauty of South Indians, and you have done this?”

The actress in a recent conversation with Times of India, opened up on her thoughts of shaving her head off. She said that she never doubted her call despite being in the film industry, where an actress is required to look flawless. She said, “I asked myself, am I going to let fear dictate my choices?”

Shanthi Priya said that she made a statement by shaving off her head and is not here to fit in any mould.
