Sanju Samson Fined By BCCI For Breaching IPL 2025 Code Of Conduct During GT Vs RR Match

It was a tough day on Wednesday at the office for Sanju Samson as Rajasthan Royals suffered a 58-run defeat against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, marking their third loss of the season. To make matters worse, Samson was fined by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the match.

BCCI slapped a hefty fine of ₹24 lakhs on Samson. "The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, will be fined either six lakhs or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser," an IPL media release read.

Why was Sanju Samson fined?

The penalty came because the Rajasthan Royals failed to complete their overs within the stipulated time, resulting in a slow over-rate offence. This was the team's second such offence under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate requirements. Earlier this season, Rajasthan were penalised for the same issue during their match against Chennai Super Kings at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. In that match, with Samson out due to injury, stand-in captain Riyan Parag was fined ₹12 lakh.
