'Ghalat Fehmi Dekh Lo...': RCB Great Virat Kohli Laughs On Remark Made On Chris Gayle In 14-year-Old Interview; Video
Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Virat Kohli recently had a hilarious moment during a segment on ‘18 Calling 18’ on JioHotstar. During the show presenter Jatin Sapru showed an old clip of himself from the 2011 IPL season. The video featured a young Kohli, just 22 at the time, giving a post-match interview after winning his first-ever Player of the Match award in the league.
Watching the video, Kohli couldn’t help but laugh uncontrollably as he heard his own words from over a decade ago. Referring to a match where RCB chased down 162 against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Kohli had said in the interview:
"To be honest, I did not plan to bat like that. But when I started to hit the ball well, I took charge from Chris (Gayle). That was the plan in the middle so that he could play himself in, and I could go for my shots because I was hitting it well."
On watching that clip again, the current-day Kohli was in splits. "Chris could play himself in? Waah! Ghalat fehmi dekh lo!" he laughed, clearly amused and slightly embarrassed. “You guys brought it here from somewhere… I don't even know what I said.”
He also took a slight dig at how player quotes are dissected on social media nowadays: "Since the social media boom, fans have started analysing players' quotes, which has become way too twisted."
Virat Kohli's performance in IPL 2025
Kohli at 36 years of age is still going strong in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. So far, he has amassed 164 runs in four innings, including two half-centuries, maintaining a solid strike rate of 143.86. Despite the years, his passion and form remain undiminished though his sense of humor about his younger self has definitely matured!
