MP Chabbewal adopts Phalahi govt school
Under Punjab Government’s ongoing ‘Sikhia Kranti’ programme in schools, Member of Parliament Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal on Wednesday announced to adopt Government Senior Secondary School, Phalahi, after inaugurating the works accomplished at a cost of nearly Rs 61 lakh in the school premises.
Stating that he will not only maintain regular interaction with the students, Dr Chabbewal said that he would make efforts to convert it into a model school in term of development, requisite facilities and arrangements for students as well as teachers. Accompanied by District Education Officer Lalita Arora, school principal Mridula Sharma, members of the School Management Committee and local dignitaries, Dr Chabbewal inaugurated the new classrooms, boundary walls and bathrooms built at the school.
Addressing the gathering, the Member of Parliament mentioned that he has adopted this school to take care of its development besides regularly meeting students to motivate them to achieve their desired goals. “Punjab Government’s mentorship programme is an innovative and student-oriented step and I also want to become an active part of such programme. Therefore, I have decided to adopt this school,” said Dr Chabbewal.
The MP said that elected representatives should adopt government schools under Punjab government’s Mentorship Programme, which would further be beneficial for students.
Talking about the infrastructure strengthened in the school at a cost of about Rs 61 lakh, Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that he will continue to strive to make the school in Phalahi among the top model schools. He also assured the principal of meeting the demands related to some development works. The Punjab government will also approve commerce classes in the school. He said that the necessary funds for further development of the school and interlocking floors will be provided soon. He added that the Punjab Government has set new records in the field of education by providing training to teachers abroad, giving every modern facility to students and ensuring state-of-the-art infrastructure in schools.
