How Rs 50 tip from accused after UPI transaction landed cousins in trouble

A UPI transaction for Rs 3,500 by the key accused, who hurled a grenade at the residence of former minister Manoranjan Kalia in the wee hours on Tuesday, led to the arrest of Harry and his cousin Satish Kumar Kaka, alias Lucky, within six hours.

Of Rs 3,500, the main accused gave Rs 50 tip to Harry for withdrawing money from the ATM situated at Garha. Harry’s mother Babli said, “Lucky lived alone at Bhargo Camp and used to drive e-rickshaw at night.”

She said, “On April 7 night, Lucky was ferrying a passenger who asked him to receive payment via UPI and return money in cash. As Lucky does not uses phone, he used the key accused’s cellphone to call Harry and sought his help.”

She said, “The main accused did digital transaction of Rs 3,500 into the bank account of Harry, who withdrew the money from an ATM and handed over the cash to the accused at Garha locality. In return, the accused paid Rs 50 tip to Harry.” Babli said, “On April 8, cops knocked at our door and inquired about the e-rickshaw and its occupants. Harry accompanied the police team to Lucky’s place and also gave his cellphone’s details to them,”

Lucky’s neighbour said, “Lucky had gone to have his breakfast when Harry and the police reached his home. As soon as Lucky returned, he was arrested.” Geet, sister of e-rickshaw driver said, “We have not been able to talk to Lucky. My brothers have been framed.”

Meanwhile, both Harry and Lucky were produced in a court that sent them to six-day police remand.
