Navi Mumbai News: CIDCO And Police Arrest Dumper Driver For Illegal Debris Dumping Near Kharghar's Murbi Metro Station
Navi Mumbai: On the morning of Tuesday, around 9:50 AM, a joint team comprising CIDCO's Vigilance Department, Engineering Department, Security personnel, and Navi Mumbai Police conducted a raid near Murbi Metro Station, Sector-24, Kharghar. During the operation, a dumper bearing registration number MH-04-BU-8760 was found illegally unloading debris in the area.
In a continued effort to curb unauthorized dumping of debris on lands acquired or under acquisition by CIDCO, the corporation has intensified its vigilance operations across Navi Mumbai. The unauthorized dumping of construction debris has raised concerns due to its hazardous impact on human health and the environment.
The dumper was being driven by Shivpujan Bhardwaj (53), a resident of Sector-13, Kharghar, originally from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. He was immediately apprehended and a case was registered against him at Kharghar Police Station as per Section 271 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, said a statement released by CIDCO.
CIDCO has stated that such debris is not only illegal but poses significant threats to public health and the local ecosystem. The corporation has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any similar unauthorized dumping incidents.
