Thane Traffic Advisory: Police Issue Alternate Routes To Reach Kalyan On Ambedkar Jayanti; Check Details

Thane: The traffic in Thane will be diverted on account of the procession to mark Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14. The traffic restrictions will come into force from 4 PM on April 14 and will end on 1 AM on April 15. During this period entry of vehicles on different routes will be restricted.

Announcing the traffic restrictions on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Thane City Deputy Commissioner of Police, Pankaj Shirsat said the event is likely to draw between 12,000 to 15,000 participants.

According to the advisory, the procession will begin from the Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial in Katemanivali, Kalyan Dombivli, and proceed towards the Municipal Office in Kalyan East, passing through the old Puna Link Road in the East Division of Sadar Marvanuka Kalyan. In order to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent congestion, the traffic police have outlined necessary measures for the convenience of the public.

The traffic control notification will not apply to police vehicles, fire brigade vehicles, ambulances, green corridor vehicles, oxygen gas vehicles, and other essential service vehicles.

Closure of Specific Routes

All six-wheeled vehicles, private buses, R.P. department buses, local government transport buses, and all types of heavy vehicles will not be allowed at Shriram Chowk within the Vitthalwadi Traffic Sub-division in Kalyan West and Ulhasnagar. An entry closure is also in effect at Samrat Chowk, Valdhuni in the area.

Additionally, heavy vehicles, including six-wheeled vehicles, private buses, R.P. department buses, and local transport buses, are not being allowed at Chakkinaka, Kalyan East. This restriction applies to Malanggarh Road, Kalyan Shil Road to Chakkinaka, and Kalyan East via Old Puna Link Road to Kolsevadi, Vitthalwadi, and Ulhasnagar.

Alternate Routes

Vehicles coming from Kalyan will proceed via Ulhasnagar, and vehicles coming from Ulhasnagar will proceed via Kalyan. Vehicles that are not allowed will be redirected via alternate routes to reach their destinations. The alternate route will go to the desired destination via Malanggarh Road and Kalyan Shill Road.
