As Bollywood is all geared up to watch War 2 on this Independence Day, there has been a huge buzz that’s doing rounds amongst the fans. But besides, these high-powered sequences and adrenaline-fueled showdowns, it’s the film’s massive budget and astonishing star fees that’s causing a stir.
All set to be released on August 14, War 2 is the next chapter in YRF’s spy universe and features a powerhouse clash between two of Indian cinema’s biggest stars — Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. The film is Directed by Ayan Mukerji and portrays a thrilling face-off with explosive action, emotional drama, and chart-topping visuals. According to the reports, the production has spent a whopping Rs. 200 crores to churn out this larger-than-life experience.
Leading the pack is Hrithik Roshan, reprising his role from the first installment. While he had reportedly charged ₹50 crore for his previous film Fighter, he has slightly scaled it down to ₹48 crore for War 2. Still, that makes him the highest-paid actor in the film’s cast.
Joining him this time is Jr NTR, playing the primary villain in the film. His role is described as intense, layered, and extremely powerful. As per reports, he has been paid a whopping ₹30 crore. While this may seem like a big amount for his Bollywood debut, it’s worth noting that Jr NTR had charged nearly ₹60 crore for his last big film, Devara Part 1. With his popularity soaring after the success of RRR, this pan-India face-off with Hrithik is one of the film’s biggest draws.
Kiara Advani, who plays the female lead in War 2, is also making headlines for her paycheck. She has reportedly charged ₹15 crore for the film, which is the highest fee of her career so far. Her role is said to be substantial and action-packed, adding more weight to the film’s narrative.
Several action sequences featuring Hrithik and Jr NTR have already been shot, and early reports suggest they are some of the most thrilling ever seen in Indian cinema. The film is expected to go head-to-head at the box office with Rajinikanth’s Coolie, making the Independence Day weekend a true battle of the titans.
With high expectations, a massive production scale, and three top stars leading the charge, War 2 is shaping up to be one of the biggest Bollywood blockbusters of 2025 — on and off the screen.
