Priyanka Gandhi skips meeting, raises eyebrows
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi’s absence in the meeting of the Extended Congress Working Committee here on Tuesday has raised eyebrows.
The Wayanad MP also skipped voting in the Lok Sabha on the Waqf ( Amendment) Bill held earlier this month, despite the party issuing a whip to all its MPs to be present in the Lok Sabha on that day.
When asked about the Gandhi family scion not turning up for the meeting of the party’s top decision making body on Tuesday, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said she was abroad on a “pre-arranged visit” for which she sought leave from Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and it was granted.
Congress general secretary (communications) Jairam Ramesh said a number CWC members failed to attend today’s meeting. “Why single out a particular person” , Ramesh asked.
