Wheat procurement to go on till June 15: Una APMC
With the wheat harvest in Una district expected to begin in the next 10 to 15 days, the district Agriculture Department has announced the activation of two wheat procurement centres — one in Rampur village of Una Sub Division and the other in Takarla village of Amb Sub Division.
According to an official release quoting Bhupinder Singh, Secretary of the Una Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC), the procurement process will continue till June 15. He stated that all necessary preparations have been completed, including cleaning the premises and repairing grain cleaning machinery.
The minimum support price (MSP) for wheat has been fixed at Rs 2,450 per quintal. Farmers interested in selling their produce to the government must register on the website www.hpappp.nic.in, where they will receive a token indicating the date and time for delivering their produce to the designated collection centre.
Singh advised farmers to adhere to the assigned schedule to minimise waiting time, especially in light of the possibility of untimely rain and hailstorms during April and May. He added that the department has mechanical systems in place for cleaning the wheat, after which the grain will undergo quality testing. Only produce that meets the specified standards will be procured.
The APMC Secretary further said the procurement amount will be transferred to farmers’ bank accounts within 24 to 48 hours after the grain is accepted.
