136 gram panchayats declared TB free in Kurukshetra

Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh today said 136 gram panchayats in the district had been declared TB free and a roadmap was prepared for the remaining gram panchayats in the district.

There are 403 gram panchayats in the district of which 267 gram panchayats are yet to be declared TB free.

Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh said the district administration and the Health Department had set a target to make Kurukshetra district TB free district. While 136 gram panchayats were made TB free so far and a roadmap was prepared to make the remaining 267 gram panchayats TB free. The work of screening the health of the people in these villages would begin soon. The role of the gram panchayat will be important in achieving the goal.

The DC was addressing the officials during a meeting at the Mini-Secretariat.

The DC said in 2023, 33 gram panchayats were declared TB free, and in 2024, 136 were declared TB free. Of 136, 25 have been declared TB free for the second time.

The Deputy Commissioner said the treatment of the disease was possible. The Block Panchayat and Development Officers should make people aware in their respective areas. If any person in the village showed the symptoms of TB, then a sample must be taken from the team of the Health Department. The Block Education Officer should make children aware of the symptoms of the disease in all schools so that they could make themselves and their families aware.

Civil Surgeon Dr Sukbhir Singh, PMO Dr Sara Aggarwal and Dr Sandeep Aggarwal were present on the occasion.

The gram panchayats declared TB free for the second time were honoured on the occasion.
